Though we are all truly thankful for the announcement of today’s truce, we are aware that, unfortunately, the recent and ongoing conflicts have caused instability and a deep lack of serenity in the daily life of the people in our region.
Thus, the presence of the Patriarch here in the Holy Land, as a pastor in the midst of his flock, is of the utmost importance in this time.
Therefore, on behalf of His Beatitude, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, I regret to inform you that His Beatitude’s visit to the U.S., which was planned for May 2026, shall not take place as scheduled.
